Car fire sparks Sunday brush fire, closes State Avenue

A car fire Sunday at about 12:53 p.m. forced a brief closure of the westbound lanes of State Avenue while emergency crews responded to put out the flames.

McLouth Cub Scout Pack 81 recently had its pinewood derby Jan. 19 at McLouth Elementary School. Cub scouts remembered their motto, “Do your best,” as they designed, shaped, fine-tuned and decorated their cars. More than 30 scouts were proud to exhibit their creations and race on the pack’s brand new aluminum track in the company of supportive families and friends.
