Regional baseball, softball brackets released

Regional baseball and softball brackets have been released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Regional competition will begin Monday as teams across Kansas try to secure spots in their respective state tournaments.

Tonganoxie baseball to host BLHS, Braves headed to Miege

The Tonganoxie High baseball team will host Basehor-Linwood, Atchison and Piper in a Class 4A-I regional at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds. Third-seeded BLHS (8-12) will open against No. 3 Atchison (7-9) at 2 p.m., and top-seeded THS (12-7) will play No. 4 Piper (5-13) immediately following the first game. The championship game is tentatively set for 6 p.m.

Bonner Springs is the No. 4 seed in a 4A-I regional hosted by Bishop Miege. The Braves (4-13) will play No. 1 De Soto (14-4) at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miege. No. 2 Sumner Academy (8-7) will then face No. 3 BMHS (5-14) for the other spot in the title game, which is set for 5 p.m.

Bobcat softball to open vs. Chieftains, BSHS opens Wednesday in Shawnee

The Basehor-Linwood softball team will welcome Tonganoxie, Piper and Atchison to the Field of Dreams Complex for a 4A-I regional on Monday. Top-seeded BLHS (16-4) will open against the No. 4 Chieftains (5-13) at 3 p.m., then No. 2 Piper (10-3) will take on No. 3 Atchison (9-10). The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

BSHS is in a Wednesday regional hosted by De Soto at the 3&2 West Complex in Shawnee. The second-seeded Braves (11-9) will play No. 3 De Soto (7-13) immediately following a semifinal between No. 1 Sumner (13-5) and No. 4 Miege (2-16), which is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday. The championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Regional champions in both sports will advance to the 4A-I state tournaments, which will both take place May 29-30 in Salina. State baseball is at Dean Evans Stadium and softball is at Bill Burke Complex.

McLouth baseball starts Monday, softball receives bye

The McLouth baseball team is the No. 4 seed in a five-team 2-1A regional hosted by Leavenworth-Immaculata. The Bulldogs (6-9) will host No. 5 Doniphan West (4-13) at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The winner will advance to the semifinals, where it will face top-seeded Valley Falls (20-0) at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Leavenworth. The championship game is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The MHS softball team is the top seed in its regional and has a first-round bye. The Bulldogs (14-2) will open against the winner of No. 4 Troy (6-11) and No. 5 Doniphan West (1-15) at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Leavenworth. The title game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The 2-1A state baseball and softball tournaments will both take place May 29-30 at Great Bend Sports Complex.
