She is one of roughly 50 Ford employees vying to be one of the “Thirty under 30” selections.

Through Dec. 20, online voters can visit the Ford in the Community Facebook page and click on video contest. Fatherley’s video is included in those pages. It’s below her video where people can vote for her.

If Fatherley makes the top 30, Ford will invest in her as a young leader in the organization. She will have the opportunity to partner with a nonprofit organization in Phoenix, where she currently lives, as a Ford representative.

“My desire for this opportunity is huge, and it all started with my involvement with Team Tongie,” Fatherley said in an email. “As a high schooler, I had the opportunity to develop a heart for my community and am looking to continue to living that out as a lifestyle, not a life event.”

Team Tongie was established in 2009 to help those in need in the community. It started when two THS students faced serious medical issues and a third student died suddenly due to a health issue. According to the organization’s website, teamtongie.com, the organization provides funds to families facing serious health and medical issues and also partners with other community organizations to provide assistance. Assistance is used for transportation to doctor appointments and treatments, paying for medication and helping with other day-to-day expenses while a family member is ill or unable to work. The organization has distributed more than $100,000 to Tonganoxie residents and their families since its inception.

Fatherley was senior class president when the organization was established and was heavily involved in working to get the organization started. She also was a student leader all four years of high school and was a graduate of the Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development Class in 2010.

She played softball at Highland Community College and served as a student leader in resident assistance.

From HCC, she moved on to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix where she earned a bachelor’s in business management with an emphasis in marketing in 2014. While at GCU, Fatherley also served in resident assistance and as a community outreach coordinator.

She then started a career with Ford Motor Credit Company in June 2014 in Phoenix where she has been ever since.

“My ultimate passion is to become a corporate leader for a company leading globally,” Fatherley said in an email. “At Ford, I have already been motivated to be able to make that dream come true. I am a part of a great company that truly believes in satisfying their customers.”
