By Shawn Linenberger - | Dec 16, 2015

The McLouth boys basketball team fell to 0-3 after losing two games last week.

Horton rolled MHS, 78-31, Dec. 8 in Horton before Immaculata kept the Bulldogs winless on Friday in Immaculata. The Raiders won, 57-30.

Like the boys team, the MHS girls opened the season with a loss and then were defeated again Dec. 8. Horton outlasted McLouth, 43-27, in the girls contest.

A score from the McLouth-Immaculata girls game wasn’t available.

The teams were back in action Tuesday with home games against archrival Oskaloosa. The teams finish out 2015 on the road near Easton for Friday games against Pleasant Ridge. The teams open up 2016 with Jan. 5 games against Maur Hill-Mount Academy. On Jan. 8, the teams travel to the Holton area for road games at Jackson Heights. On Jan. 16, Heritage Christian visits McLouth before the teams travel Jan. 15 to Valley Falls.

McLouth again will host boys and girls tournaments in late January. The McLouth Invitational Tournament will be Jan. 18-23.

MHS recently learned where its substate tournament would be held.

Bulldog teams will be in the Horton substate in Class 2A.

Teams in the tournament are Horton, Jackson Heights, McLouth, Heritage Christian out of Olathe, Kansas City Christian out of Prairie Village, Maranatha Christian Academy out of Shawnee, Troy, Valley Falls and Jefferson County North.

Other 2A substate sites are Ell Saline High School (Brookville), Ellis, Lyndon, Sedan, St. John, Sublette and Washington County (Washington).

Games will be played Feb. 29-March 5, with higher-seeded teams serving as hosts for first-round games.
