Substate, regional assignments for Tongaoxie, McLouth

Substate and regional assignments have been announced for high school basketball and wrestling.

Tonganoxie will be the host for a Class 4A Division I substate March 3-5 at THS.

Other teams at the substate are Atchison, De Soto and Eudora.

All games will be played at Tonganoxie High School.

Other sites for 4A D-I are Basehor-Linwood, Coffeyville, Louisburg, Ottawa, Towanda Circle, Ulysses and Wellington.

Sites for 4A D-II are Baldwin, Baxter Springs, Burlington, Clay Center, Clearwater, Goodland, Holton and Kingman.

The THS wrestling squad will compete at a 4A regional Feb. 19-20 in De Soto. Other teams in the regional with De Soto and Tonganoxie are Atchison, Baldwin, Basehor-Linwood, Eudora, Holton, Bishop Ward, Piper, Sumner Academy, Jefferson West, Ottawa, Santa Fe Trail, Bishop Miege and Spring Hill. Other 4A regional sites are Columbus, Smoky Valley in Lindsborg and Rose Hill.

Class 6A regional sites are Dodge City, Lawrence, Olathe East and Wichita North, while 5A sites are Andover, Bonner Springs, Blue Valley Southwest and Valley Center.

And in 3-2-1A, Beloit, Cimarron, Marion and Rossville are the regional sites.

MHS also recently learned from the Kansas State High School Activities Association about where its substate basketball tournament would be held.

Bulldog teams will be in the Horton substate in Class 2A.

Teams in the tournament are Horton, Jackson Heights, McLouth, Heritage Christian out of Olathe, Kansas City Christian out of Prairie Village, Maranatha Christian Academy out of Shawnee, Troy, Valley Falls and Jefferson County North.

Other 2A substate sites are Ell Saline High School (Brookville), Ellis, Lyndon, Sedan, St. John, Sublette and Washington County (Washington).

Games will be played Feb. 29-March 5, with higher-seeded teams serving as hosts for first-round games.
