- The Tonganoxie High girls and boys basketball teams will look to make fresh starts in 2016.
Both teams fell to 0-4 on the season with home losses Friday against Basehor-Linwood.
The THS girls team nearly cracked the win column against BLHS, but the Bobcats eventually pulled away for the 55-47 win.

- The Tonganoxie City Council approved an ordinance amending city code to restrict equestrian use and some motorized vehicles on trails and sidewalks.
The governing body approved the measure, 4-0, with Council Member Kara Reed absent.
The council recently requested city staff draw up an ordinance that would prohibit animals and motorized vehicles on sidewalks and trails within the city limits. It makes a revision to city code with the exception of a dog or cat properly licensed in the city that is properly restrained or on a leash.

- A legislative forum will start at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Tonganoxie VFW Post Home.
First State Bank and Trust is sponsoring the event, which is open to the public.
Local legislators have been invited to the forum to speak to residents about the upcoming session.

- Some 430 Tonganoxie Elementary School students made their way through the small intestine Thursday at the TES gymnasium.
The Body Venture exhibit returned to the school for another year, as students in grades 2-4 made their way through the various stations in the exhibit.
