Face to Face: Tonganoxie’s Tabatha Regehr

December 23, 2015

Name: Tabatha Regehr

Born: June 6, 1974, in Dallas.

Family: Husband, Doug, originally from Inman; two children, Dalton a fifth-grader at Tonganoxie Elementary School, and Hadley, a second-grader at TES. The family moved from Lebanon, Ohio, eight years ago this week.

Occupation: Veterinarian and part owner of Perimeter Veterinary Center in Shawnee.

Dream job as a child: Zoo veterinarian

Interesting fact: Regehr landed a voiceover gig for a Kansas State University program a few years ago.

“It was unpaid but still a very special opportunity,” she said.

Digging Deeper: Regehr graduated from Irving High School in Irving, Texas, in 1992. She moved to Kansas in 1994 to attend college after having lost her mother to cancer. She has both a degree in animal science and doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University.

Since marrying in 2001, the family has owned five homes, moving from Wichita to Inman before relocating to Lebanon, Ohio, when their son was 6 weeks old.

The family moved to Tonganoxie and house No. 4 right before our daughter was born.

“We are now on house No. 5 and should be done for a while,” Regehr said.

Regehr and her family settled in Tonganoxie to be on the west side of the greater Kansas City area near Interstate 70.

“We were excited about the quality of the schools and ability to live in the country yet still have easy access to the city and airport,” she said. “We are so excited to continue to raise our kids here. I love the schools and teachers we’ve met at both Genesis Preschool and now TES.

“We attend Basehor United Methodist Church where, after our first visit, it felt like home. I have any easy commute to work while still living in the country.

Regehr’s hobbies are reading and home remodel and repair.

“There is never a bad time to give a space a facelift or knock down a wall to start again,” she said.
