Face to Face: Tonganoxie’s Patrick Budy

By Shawn Linenberger - | Feb 24, 2015

Name: Patrick Budy

Born: Kansas City, Kan.

Family: Wife, Rachel; sons, Emmitt, 4; Egan, 3; Ellis, 1

Occupation: Budy is an agent with Farm Bureau Financial.

Dream job as a child: When he was younger, Budy wanted to be a game warden.

Interesting fact: Budy served as a police officer for 20 years, including three years as a part-time officer in Tonganoxie.

Digging deeper: After graduating from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kan., Budy played football at Independence Community College. He then attended Kansas City Kansas Community College and Kansas State University.

“During my tenure with the Bonner Springs Police Department, I was a DARE Instructor in Bonner Springs School District for nine years and continue to be very passionate about children and their well-being.”

His time with the Bonner Springs Police Department also provided Budy the opportunity to work many concerts and events at what’s now known as Cricket Wireless Amphitheater. That opportunity turned out to be a pretty good one.

“It was during this time that I met my wife,” said Budy, whose wife also worked concerts at the venue at the time. “The rest, as they say, is history.”

Budy moved to Tonganoxie in April 2001 and said he appreciated being able to raise his family in this community.

When he’s not working or spending time wrangling his three boys, Bud enjoys any activity that has to do with the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, golf or completing an outdoor project.

“It makes it more special when I can spend that outdoor time with my family,” he said.
