The McLouth High boys and girls basketball seasons have concluded.

Competing in a play-in game for a Class 2A sub-state basketball tournament, the MHS lost to Heritage Christian Academy from Olathe, 40-38, Saturday afternoon in Olathe.

HCA, the No. 8 seed in the tournament, improved to 4-16 with the victory.

The McLouth girls, meanwhile, finished their season at 2-18.

Semifinal games are played at the home of the higher-seeded teams. The semifinals and finals will be played at Valley Falls.

The McLouth High boys also competed in a play-in game.

The Bulldogs, the No. 8 seed, played Shawnee’s Maranatha Academy, the No. 9 seed.

McLouth outlasted the Eagles, 55-52.

That put McLouth in Monday’s quarterfinal game against top-seeded Jackson Heights. The Cobras proved to be too much, as JHHS won, 77-40.

McLouth finished the season at 7-14.

Tonganoxie boys and girls teams play in the Class 4A Division I sub-state tournament Friday and Saturday.

The THS boys (4-16), the No. 4 seed in the four-team sub-state, takes on top-seed and undefeated Basehor-Linwood (20-0) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Piper. The Bobcats won both meetings against the Chieftains earlier this season.

No. 2 Piper (13-7) plays No. 3 Sumner Academy (8-12) in the other semifinal game. That contest is set to start about 7:30 p.m. The winners will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Piper.

In the girls bracket, Tonganoxie also is the No. 4 seed at 6-14. The Chieftains take on No. 1 seed Sumner Academy, which is 16-4 on the season. The game is at 6 p.m. Friday at Piper.

In the second game, No. 2 Piper (15-5) faces No. 3 Basehor-Linwood (8-12). That game starts at 7:30 p.m.

The winners of those two games will play at 6 p.m. Saturday.
