Tonganoxie High girls, boys players make all-KVL teams

Tonganoxie High has landed four players total on all-Kaw Valley League basketball teams.

On the boys side, Tonganoxie’s Jared Sommers and Brady Swedo made honorable mention, while Sarah Ahart and Tressa Walker were honorable mention selections on the girls team.

Basehor-Linwood had four players make the list, as senior Pat Muldoon, junior Jahron McPherson and senior Carson Fliger were first-team selections. Junior Jack Dale, who transferred to BLHS from Tonganoxie last summer, was an honorable mention selection.

Bonner Springs also had four selections: first-team selections Aaron McGee and Brenden Dotson. McGee is a junior and Dotson a senior. Juniors DeVante McGee and Antonio Roark were BSHS’ honorable mention picks.

Bishop Ward’s Anthony Cerda was all-league, while Lansing’s Trevor Young and Kenneth Banks, both seniors, took home all-league honors. Junior Sam Lorenzen and senior Krystian Abbott made honorable mention for the Lions.

Mill Valley landed two juniors on the all-league list: Clatyon Holmberg and Logan Koch.

Piper had an all-league pick and an honorable mention. Vince Eskina, a senior, was all-league for the Pirates, while fellow senior Jordan Guess was honorable mention.

Turner’s Darnell Miller, a senior, rounds out the all-league selections.

Girls all-KVL selections

Piper, which made advance to state after beating THS in the substate finals, had the most all-KVL picks with four.

Senior Haley White, juniors Jessica Wayne and Lexsi Owens and sophomore Maya Morrow were all-league selections, as were Bonner Springs juniors Julianne Jackson and Miyah Hightower. BSHS senior Mikaela Bennett was honorable mention.

Senior Madison McDowell was Basehor-Linwood’s lone all-league selection, while Bishop Ward sophomore SaMone Springsteen also was a lone pick for the Cyclones.

Lansing senior Kija Cammock and LHS junior Madelyn Moya made the all-KVL team, as did Mill Valley senior Jabria Leggett and MVHS junior Catie Kaifes.

Mill Valley senior Lexie Myers was the final all-league honorable mention.
