When you first walk into The Sundry, a market and grocery that opened last year in the Crossroads neighborhood, you’ll see a large chalkboard with a drawing of Kansas and Missouri. Pointing to the states are several arrows indicating the origins of The Sundry’s suppliers for meat, vegetables, dry goods, teas and a whole variety of products ranging from kombucha, a fermented tea drink and komatsuna, a green leafy vegetable, to succulents and soap. The Sundry doesn’t just stock local food — it serves them in a variety of tasty breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, as well as pre-made dinners to take home.

Tonganoxie High golf continues to improve scores

The Tonganoxie High golf team is continuing to see some improvement in its scoring. THS shot a 378 at the Spring Hill tournament, which was a marked improvement from the Hayden invite in Topeka.
Final home game Thursday for THS soccer

The Tonganoxie High girls soccer team will have its final home game Thursday. The Chieftains will face Ottawa, with junior varsity set to start at 4 p.m. and varsity at 5:45 p.m. THS then will finish out the regular season Tuesday at Basehor-Linwood.
Chieftain baseball finishes tourney on right foot

The Tonganoxie High baseball team finished out the Butch Foster Memorial Baseball Classic strong Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The Chieftains defeated Bonner Springs, 13-3, for seventh place at the annual tourney at the home of the Kansas City T-Bones. THS improved to 4-11 on the season, while BSHS fell to 3-14.

Chieftains drop two doubleheaders after starting 8-0

The Tonganoxie High softball team hit a bit of a wall in its two doubleheaders last week. The Chieftains rolled in with an 8-0 record but dropped both doubleheaders, falling to 8-4 on the season. THS faced fellow undefeated squad Piper on April 29 in Kansas City, Kan. As has been the storyline throughout the year, Tonganoxie provided plenty of offense.
Celebrating Tonganoxie Elementary School

Former students, teachers and other community members will get the chance to relive decades of memories later today. The farewell celebration for the current Tonganoxie Elementary School will be 6-8 p.m. today at the school. TES teacher Gail Kiefer said tables would be set in the cafeteria with projects and displays a class has put together.

Keyta Kelly has the knack for telling a humdinger of a story. She has a shovel to prove it. Kelly recently was chosen as the latest tall tale storyteller champion. The competition took place a couple weekends ago in Downs, the Storytelling Capital of Kansas.
Tonganoxie High forensics takes 6th at state in 4A

The Tonganoxie High speech and drama team placed sixth overall in Class 4A Saturday in Topeka. Sumner Academy again won the overall forensics title, this time scoring 336 points. Pratt placed second with 254, Bishop Miege third at 242, Mulvane fourth at 240, Louisburg fifth with 226 and THS with 219 points. There were 48 teams that competed total.
