Tonganoxie High forensics takes 6th at state in 4A
McLouth takes 13th in 2A
The Tonganoxie High speech and drama team placed sixth overall in Class 4A Saturday in Topeka.
Sumner Academy again won the overall forensics title, this time scoring 336 points. Pratt placed second with 254, Bishop Miege third at 242, Mulvane fourth at 240, Louisburg fifth with 226 and THS with 219 points. There were 48 teams that competed total.
Emily Pierce placed third and Lauren Harrell fifth in humorous solo acting.
Emma DeMaranville brought home fourth place in the informative speech, while Harrell also finished fourth in the oral interpretation of prose event.
Piper was the next highest Kaw Valley League team at state. PHS placed eighth, while Basehor-Linwood took 15th.
In Class 2A, McLouth finished 13th out of 42 teams.
Nick Barber and Hannah DePriest teamed up to take fourth in improvised duet acting.
Republic County won the team title with 237 points, while Sacred Heart of Salina took second with 229. Greensburg-Kiowa County finished fourth with 213 and Ellis took fifth with 203.
Manhattan won 6A (316), Blue Valley North placed second (300) and Blue Valley High third (288). In 5A, Shawnee Heights placed first (318), Topeka Seaman second (286) and Lansing third (274).
Norton won the 3A title (425), Sterling placed second (378) and Minneapolis third (290).
And in 1A, Jetmore-Hodgeman County placed first (443), Quinter second (353) and Pretty Prairie third (234).
