A Tonganoxie High track athlete broke a school record as THS took third in both the boys and girls divisions. Kourtni Freemyer cleared 10 feet in the pole vault, taking first and setting a new school record in the event. The THS girls had several strong performances on their way to a third-place finish and 114 points. Piper won the meet with 127 and Basehor-Linwood placed second with 116.

Roughly 145 students officially will bid Tonganoxie High School farewell as students Saturday. Commencement exercises will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the THS gymnasium. The THS band will provide the processional musical. After senior class members take their seats, Lauren Harrell will give the welcome.

The Tonganoxie USD 464 School Board will have a special meeting Thursday to discuss the possibility of increasing the local option budget and to further discuss Monday’s decision to eliminate ninth-grade athletics schedules for the 2015-16 school year as a cost-saving measure.
