Graduations Saturday at THS, McLouth

Roughly 145 students officially will bid Tonganoxie High School farewell as students Saturday.

Commencement exercises will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the THS gymnasium.

The THS band will provide the processional musical. After senior class members take their seats, Lauren Harrell will give the welcome.

The senior ensemble and then the Chieftain Singers will perform songs.

THS principal Mark Farrar will recognize National Honor Society members and 4.0 students.

Recognition of salutatorians is next, followed by the valedictorian address.

Farrar will present the class and then assistant principal Brent Smith and the school board will award the diplomas.

Graduation escorts are Emma DeMaranville and Spencer Finkbiner. Ushers are Kaitlin Hall, Dawson Jones, McKenzie Price and Dylan Staatz.

MHS graduation Saturday

McLouth High School will say goodbye to 44 graduating seniors Saturday.

Commencement exercises will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the MHS Gold Gymnasium.

MHS principal Jennifer Short will give the introduction, while Jack Courtney, senior class president, will give the welcome.

McKenzie Campbell, Emma Evans, Emily Hoffhines and Jordyn Johnston will share class memories before this year’s co-valedictorians are announced.

Co-valedictorians are Jacob Bowman, Emma Evans, Faith Schmalstieg, Meghan Jackson, Sarah Miller, Travis Riley and Emily Hoffhines.

This year’s guest speaker is MHS teacher David Boucher.

Aaron Polson will recognize honor students, as well as scholarship winners alongside other presenters.

After scholarships have been announced, McLouth USD 342 Superintendent Steve Lilly will present the class for graduation and then school board members will present diplomas.

This year’s class flower is the rose, while class colors are pink and silver.

The class motto is “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened,” by Dr. Seuss.

This year’s class song is “Time of My Life” by Reggie Hamm, sung by David Cook.
