Tonganoxie City Fire Department fire calls, April 13-May 3, 2015

Area cities can find themselves competing with other local communities because of higher pay for its employees in fire, police, public works and other departments.

April 13

• Tonganoxie City firefighters responded with Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service at 4:48 p.m. and 9:05 p.m.

April 14

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 7:43 p.m. and 8:22 p.m.

April 15

• Firefighters responded at 5:01 a.m. with Leavenworth County EMS.

April 16

• At 6:57 a.m. and 10:48 p.m., firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS.

April 17

• At 7:15 p.m., firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS.

April 18

• Firefighters responded at 8:02 a.m. to check a controlled burn.

• Firefighters responded with Tonganoxie Township for a possible structure fire in the 25100 block of Duncan. There was a large brush pile on fire, but no hazard was found.

• Firefighters responded at 12:31 p.m. and 7:12 p.m. at Leavenworth County EMS.

April 19

• Firefighters served on standby at 10:54 a.m. at the fire station.

April 20

• Firefighters responded at 9:40 p.m. with Leavenworth County EMS.

April 21

• Firefighters responded at 1:18 p.m. to the smell of gas at Tonganoxie High School. No hazard was found.

• Firefighters investigated the smell of gas in the 500 block of East 12th Street. No hazard was found.

April 22

• At 1:50 a.m., firefighters investigates a water flow alarm at Tonganoxie High School, discovered a malfunctioning valve for the sprinkler system.

• At 2:19 p.m., firefighters responded to an oven fire in the 100 block of Ridge Circle. The fire was out upon firefighters’ arrival. The fire department checked the surrounding area and found no hazards.

April 23

• Firefighters responded at 2 p.m. with Leavenworth County EMS.

April 24

• Firefighters responded at 9:32 P.M. Respond to a smell of gas inside a building, 200 block of E Washington, no hazard found after investigation.

April 25

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 3:38 a.m. and 6:19 a.m.

April 26

• Firefighters responded at 7:28 p.m. to a smoke detector activation in the 100 block of Village Terrace. The call was canceled as firefighters were on their way. It was a false alarm.

April 27

• Firefighters responded at 2:13 p.m. with Tonganoxie Township Fire Department for a fire alarm in the 22900 block of Hatchell Road. It was a false alarm.

April 28

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 4:43 a.m., 8:22 a.m., 4:46 p.m. and 9:16 p.m.

April 29

• Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 9:35 a.m. in the 1900 block of Finch Drive. It turned out to be a false alarm.

April 30

• Firefighters responded to an activated carbon monoxide alarm at 7:42 a.m. A faulty detector was found.

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 8:16 p.m.

May 1

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 8:46 a.m. and 2:58 p.m.

• At 6:12 p.m., firefighters served on standby for Leavenworth County EMS for a running event.

May 2

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 1:18 a.m., 5:55 p.m. and 9:03 p.m.

May 3

• Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County EMS at 7:34 a.m.
