Regionals start today, tomorrow for Tonganoxie, McLouth teams
Spring sports are entering the postseason today.
Here's a look at when and where Tonganoxie and McLouth teams will be competing:
Tonganoxie High baseball (5-14) is the No. 4 seed in the Bonner Springs regional and will face No. 5 Bonner Springs (3-16) in the Class 4A Division I postseason at 2 p.m. today in Bonner Springs.
The winner of that game will play No. 1 Piper (12-6) at 6 p.m. today.
No. 2 Basehor-Linwood (8-12) takes on No. 3 Sumner Academy (6-11) at 4 p.m.
The winners of those games advance to the regional finals at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
McLouth will have to get past an undefeated team to advance to state in Class 2A.
Troy (17-0) is the top seed in a regional at Highland.
McLouth (16-4) is the No. 2 seed and will play Doniphan West at 4 p.m. Tuesday. No. 4 Valley Falls (8-10) and No. 5 Immaculata (7-10) play at 5 p.m. today. The winner takes on Troy at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The winner of Troy against either Valley Falls or Immaculata will play the McLouth-Doniphan West winner at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Highland.
The Tonganoxie High golf team is the first area squad to get started with postseason play.
THS will start at 1 p.m. today at Sunflower Hills in Bonner Springs.
The Chieftains will compete against Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Piper, Jeff West, Perry-Lecompton, Bishop Miege and Topeka-Hayden.
The Tonganoxie High softball team will be the top seed in a Class 4A Division I regional tournament Tuesday in Baldwin.
THS (10-7) will play No. 4 De Soto (7-12) at 3 p.m. Tuesday. No. 2 Eudora (10-9) will play No. 3 Baldwin (7-12) in the other semifinal game at 4:45 p.m.
Winners of those two games will play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the winner advancing to state.
McLouth also will be the top seed in its 2A regional, which is today and Tuesday in McLouth.
No. 4 Troy (9-9) will play No. 5 Immaculata (1-15) at 5:30 p.m. today.
McLouth (15-4) plays the winner of that game at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
No. 2 Valley Falls (13-5) and No. 3 Wabaunsee (10-10) play at 4:30 p.m.
If MHS were to win its game tomorrow, it would play the Valley Falls-Wabaunsee winner in the regional championship at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The THS soccer team will be at home at least one more time this season with Tuesday’s Northeast Regional game against Maranatha Academy. THS (6-7-2) is the No. 7 seed in the region and will play Maranatha at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the THS soccer complex. The winner takes on No. 2 De Soto (11-4-1) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in De Soto.
Track and field
Tonganoxie will compete in a 4A regional Friday at Piper.
Field events start at 1 p.m., with prelims to start at 2 p.m. Finals will start 30 minutes after prelims.
Other teams competing are Atchison, Baldwin, Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Eudora, Bishop Ward, Piper, Sumner Academy, Jeff West, Ottawa, Perry-Lecompton, Santa Fe Trail, Bishop Miege and Spring Hill.
McLouth will be competing Friday afternoon in a 2A regional at Washington.
Other teams competing are Wabaunsee, Burlingame, Mission Valley, Jackson Heights, Heritage Christian, Onaga, Kansas City Christian, Maranatha Academy, Solomon, Troy, Valley Falls, Wakefield and Jefferson County North.
