THS girls soccer gets another home match
The THS girls soccer team was at home one more time this season with Tuesday’s Northeast Regional game against Maranatha Academy.
THS (6-7-2) entered the postseason as the No. 7 seed in the Class 4-3-2-1A region and played No. 10 Maranatha Christian Academy (5-9) Tuesday at the THS soccer complex. The game took place after The Mirror’s deadline Tuesday, but more on the game can be found at www.tonganoxiemirror.com.
The winner takes on No. 2 De Soto (11-4-1) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in De Soto.
THS actually was set to play Maranatha Christian Academy last week, but inclement weather forced cancellation of the match.
In other regional matchups, No. 8 Heritage Christian (5-7-2) played No. 9 Baldwin (6-10), with the winner to play No. 1 Bishop Miege (12-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Miege.
No. 6 Bonner Springs (9-7) faced No. 11 Basehor-Linwood (4-12) Tuesday, with the winner advancing to play the winner of No. 3 Spring Hill (11-5) and No. 14 Ottawa (2-14) at 5 p.m. Thursday at Spring Hill.
In additional regional matchups, No. 4 Sumner Academy (9-4-1) met No. 13 Kansas City Christian (2-14) and No. 5 Piper (9-6) met No. 12 Bishop Ward (2-13-1).
Winners faced of those games are set to play at 5 p.m. Thursday at Washington High in Kansas City, Kan.
State quarterfinals will be played Tuesday and state will take place May 29 and 30 at McPherson College.
Class 6A state soccer will take place at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe. Class 5A state soccer will be at Hummer Sports Complex in Topeka.
