McLouth gets regional, substate assignments

McLouth cross country and volleyball will be heading west for Class 2A regional and substate play.

The boys and girls cross country teams will travel a considerable way for the Republic County regional Oct. 24 in Belleville. Bennington, Valley Heights, Canton-Galva, Herington, Hillsboro, Horton, Jackson Heights, McLouth, Troy, Valley Falls, Wabaunsee, Jefferson County North and Washington County will join McLouth and Republic County at the meet. The boys race is set to start at 11:30 a.m. and the girls race at 12:40 p.m. at the Belleville Country Club.

Other regional sites are Garnett, Hill City and Meade

The MHS volleyball team will stay much closer to home with a substate at Winchester.

Jefferson County North is the host for this year’s substate, with Alma-Wabaunsee, Valley Heights, Jackson Heights, Horton, Troy and Valley Falls being the other participants.

Other sites are Elkhart, Kiowa County, Lyndon, Moundridge, Oberlin, Pittsburg Colgan and Solomon.

MHS falls to Oskaloosa

The MHS football time dropped to 1-4 on the season with a 44-0 loss to Oskaloosa on Friday at OHS.

McLouth will look to get a victory with a final tune-up before district play with this Friday’s home game against Washington County.

The Tigers are 5-0 and clinched their first Twin Valley League title with a 32-6 victory last week against Centralia.

Friday’s game is homecoming at Stan Braksick Sports Complex.
