The U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to consider reinstating death sentences for two brothers convicted in the notorious slayings of four people in Kansas, capital cases that roiled the state’s politics and have prompted calls to remake its judiciary.

Lansing sinks Tonganoxie soccer with overtime goal

Tonganoxie High struck first against Lansing in a Kaw Valley League clash Monday at Lansing, but LHS finished with a second-half goal and then an overtime score for the 2-1 victory. Tonganoxie senior Tyler Novotney scored for the Chieftains in the first half, but the Lions answered just moments into the second half.

Tonganoxie High cross country teams continue to haul in the hardware at meets this year. The THS boys won the Perry-Lecompton Invitational on Thursday near Lake Perry, while the girls team finished second. Aside from the Rim Rock Classic, Tonganoxie teams have finished first or second in the team standings in each of the invites they’ve competed.

Movies provide this year’s theme leading up to Friday

McLouth High School is going Hollywood for this year’s homecoming festivities. This year’s theme is Stars of McLouth. Spirit dress-up days have a movie them, as students dressed up as superhero movie characters for Marvel Monday and horror movie characters on Terror Tuesday. Today is Wacky Wednesday, with students dressing up as animated movie characters.
