Kansas State Fair 2015 attendance highest since 1995

By Associated Press - | Oct 16, 2015

? Thanks to good weather and popular concerts, the Kansas State Fair this year had its highest attendance since 1995.

Fair officials announced Thursday that 369,322 attended the fair in September. That beat the previous high of 361,647 in 1995. The Hutchinson News reports it’s unknown if attendance was the highest in the fair’s 102-year-historty because audited attendance counts didn’t begin until 1978.

Interim manager Lori Hart says this year’s popular grandstand acts helped made the concerts profitable for the first time in several years. She says pleasant, sunny and dry weather throughout the 10 days also helped attendance.

Vendors also reported an increase and midway revenue was up 8.1 percent from 2014.
