Jackson Heights football rolls against McLouth, 46-8
The McLouth High football team will look to bounce back from its 46-8 setback Friday against Jackson Heights.
The Bulldogs weren’t able to get much going against the Cobras in a game played on the JHHS campus near Holton.
Now 1-2 on the season, MHS will look to bounce back with Friday’s home game against Royal Valley at the Stan Braksick Sports Complex in McLouth.
The Bulldogs will then travel Oct. 2 to Oskaloosa to take on the archrival OHS Bear squad.
McLouth is back at home with its homecoming game Oct. 9 against the Washington County Tigers.
After that, district play begins with an Oct. 16 game near Easton against the Pleasant Ridge Rams and then back-to-back home games against the Atchison County Tigers on Oct. 23 and the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Junior Ravens on Oct. 29.
The top two district teams will advance to the Class 3A playoffs, which will start Nov. 3.
MHS volleyball, cross country
The McLouth volleyball team played Tuesday at home against Jefferson County North and Pleasant Ridge after The Mirror’s deadline.
The squad will continue its season with a junior varsity tournament Saturday at Doniphan West High School in Highland. The varsity squad travels next Tuesday to Jackson Heights to take on JHHS and Oskaloosa.
On Oct. 1, the team heads to Lawrence to play Bishop Seabury and then competes Oct. 3 in the Valley Falls Invitational (varsity) and the Jefferson County North Invitational (junior varsity).
The MHS cross country team will compete Thursday in the Troy Invitational and then Oct. 1 in the Horton Invitational.
On Oct. 8, the squad competes near Easton in the Pleasant Ridge Invitational.
