Tonganoxie USD 464 sets superintendent meetings; principal hired; longtime ag/FFA adviser stepping down
The Tonganoxie School Board approved several special meetings at Monday’s regular monthly meeting as it continues its search for a new superintendent.
The board approved meetings for May 9, from 5-6 p.m. for a special meeting in advance of its regular meeting at 6 p.m. to review feedback form stakeholder groups and to develop interview questions.
A May 16 meeting was set to select candidates to interview and meetings May 17, 18, 19 and 20 were set to conduct interviews with candidates.
A special meeting would then take place May 23 to select a new superintendent.
The staked holder group meetings are to take place April 21, with the application period closing May 2.
The board is searching for its next superintendent after current superintendent Lyn Rantz announced she would be leaving at the end of June to take a position with Topeka Collegiate
Tonganoxie has a new assistant principal.
Kasi Brown was approved as the new Tonganoxie Elementary Schoool/Tonganoxie Middle School assistant principal.
She comes to Tonganoxie from JC Harmon High School in Kansas City, Kan., where she has been assistant principal and freshman academy principal since 2014. She also has experience as an elementary school teacher and middle school teacher.
She earned a bachelor’s from Kansas University and master’s from Avila, as well as a master’s in educational administration from Emporia State University.
Longtime adviser resigns
Randy Kraft, Tonganoxie High School FFA adviser and agricultural education instructor, has resigned.
His resignation was one of several approved at Monday’s meeting.
Other resignations were accepted for Sherrie Evans, THS student council sponsor; Steve Zimmmerman, TES third-grade teacher; Joseph Malec, THS special education para and TMS boys basketball assistant coach; Kelly Wigley, THS assistant girls basketball coach; Tabitha Hayes, TES third-grade teacher; Tara George THS sophomore class sponsor; and Michael Kasten, THS assistant football coach.
The board also accepted the retirement of THS special education teacher Janice Adams.
Work agreements were approved for Jessica McRae, THS language arts teacher; Sarah Moore, TMS language arts teacher; Nancy Harr, special needs bus para; and Morgan Spicer, THS special education para.
New positions of TES interrelated teacher, special education bus para and TES kindergarten teacher also were approved.
