The wins are starting to come for the Tonganoxie High girls soccer team. After playing their way through a loaded schedule and starting the season 1-7, the Chieftains have not lost in their last three competitions.

An exciting finish in the first game gave way to a rout in the second game for the Tonganoxie High softball team. The Chieftains were home to Bonner Springs on April 12 at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds and in the middle of nail-biter.
Tonganoxie bar owners ask city to revise food truck regulations

A couple who owns a new Tonganoxie bar are asking the Tonganoxie City Council to revisit its ordinances regarding food truck vendors in the community. Kate and Jess Brubacher, who operate the Myers Hotel Bar at Third and Main streets, said they’d like to offer some rotating food options at their bar, but said city regulations seem to be hindering those efforts. The couple spoke in open session at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Patron surveys available until May 3 for superintendent search

Tonganoxie USD 464 officials are asking for assistance with their superintendent search. The district has posted a five-question Survey Monkey questionnaire on its website, tong464.org, for patrons to fill out. The stakeholder input form asks questions about the community and schools, issues a new superintendent should be aware of and attributes a superintendent should possess to be successful in Tonganoxie. The survey opened April 8 and will close May 3. The school board is looking to hire a new superintendent after Lyn Rantz announced that she would be leaving at the end of June to take an administrative position at Topeka Collegiate.
Some 300 students attend Tonganoxie High School prom

Tonganoxie High School juniors and seniors could be spotted here and there Saturday in Tonganoxie and Lawrence. With prom taking place Saturday night in Lawrence, students were gathering for photos in advance with their friends at various venues, including VFW Park in Tonganoxie, which traditionally has been a popular spot for prom attendees.

Tonganoxie High track teams take 3rd at home invitational

Tonganoxie High boys and girls track teams both finished with third-place finishes at their home meet Thursday at Beatty Field. Lansing won both titles, scoring 156 on the boys side and 165 in the girls standings.
