Golfers place 5th at Hayden Invitational
Tonganoxie High golfers finished fifth out of nine teams at last week’s Hayden Invitational.
THS shot a 361 as a team in finishing in the middle of the pack.
Piper won the meet with low score of 323. Mill Valley placed second with 340, while Ottawa was third with the same score. Hayden placed fourth with 354. De Soto (370), Cornerstone (373), Basehor-Linwood (406) and Lansing (426) placed last.
Matt Scharff had low score for the Chieftains at 84. Noah Arthaud shot a 90, Dawson Jones a 92 and Jacob Hall a 95. Aiden McClellan scored a 102 and Ben Lanza a 103.
Tonganoxie is back on the greens Thursday with an invitational at Bellevue Country Club in Atchison. Basehor-Linwood, Bishop Ward, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Hiawatha, Holton, Horton, Immaculata, Kansas City Christian, Lansing, Maranatha Christian Academy, Maur Hill Prep, Piper, Royal Valley and KC Washington also will be competing.
THS soccer drops match
Tonganoxie girls soccer saw its recent hot streak snapped Monday in Bonner Springs.
THS lost on the road to BSHS, 1-0, in the Kaw Valley League clash. The defeat dropped THS to 4-8-1, though the Chieftains won or tied each of their last four games.
The defeat came after the squad got a big victory last week. The Chieftains defeated Kansas City Christian, 1-0, at the Chieftain Park Soccer Complex.
The team is back in action Thursday with a road test in Olathe against Heritage Christian Academy.
McLouth season continues
The MHS springs sports teams are in the the thick of their seasons.
The Bulldog softball team is 12-3 on the year, while the McLouth baseball squad sits at 5-9 on the season.
McLouth’s track team just finished up competing at the Cardinal Relays on Thursday in Eudora.
The Bulldogs placed eighth out of nine teams on the boys side and ninth out of nine on the girls side.
