Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development Class applications due this week
The Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development organization is taking applications for its 2016-17 school year.
Classes members range in age from high school seniors to retired residents. Classes generally are the second Wednesday of each month from September through April, with a graduation luncheon taking place in May.
Some classes are all-day events, while others run from 1-5 p.m. The Basehor Community Library is home to a few monthly class sessions, though students will take field trips to Leavenworth, Lawrence and Topeka also. Students also must attend a local government meeting and visit a museum.
They also must do a volunteer group project that requires time outside regular classes. And, students will discuss a book addressing leadership during its monthly classes.
Tuition is $200 per student and the deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, though the board will consider extensions. For more information about the class and applications, go to the Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development Class’ Facebook page.
