Kansas official: Plans not firm for American Royal project in Kansas City

A new hotel, children’s museum and 5,000-seat hockey arena could be part of a project designed to lure the annual American Royal horse and livestock exhibition to the Kansas side of the Kansas City metropolitan area from Missouri.
Tonganoxie High School to celebrate National FFA Week starting Monday

The Tonganoxie FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week next week with a host of events, including its annual breakfast. Spirit days this year are College Team Day on Monday, Tacky Tourist Day on Tuesday and A Walk Through the Ages on Wednesday, Feb. 24. For that day, Freshmen encouraged to dress as babies, sophomores as toddlers, juniors as adults and seniors as senior citizens.
Tonganoxie hears renovation plans, timetable for new City Hall, police station
Projects expected to be finished by September

HTK Architects gave the Tonganoxie City Council a look at plans for a new City Hall and police station at Monday’s regular council meeting. Marissa Carroll with HTK presented a Power Point of a few conceptual designs for the interior for both businesses. The former Tan Time, which was the U.S. Post Office in the 500 block of Fourth Street, will be repurposed into the new City Hall. The current Cornerstone Family Worship at Sixth and Church streets will become the new police station.
Tonganoxie Sesquicentennial logo unveiled; community band expected to make return

As volunteers continue to plan June’s Tonganoxie Sesquicentennial, specifics are coming together, including an evening music lineup and a logo for the event. The festival also will feature the return of a Tonganoxie musical tradition. Committee members started to share the logo online late last week on social media.
