Face to Face: Tonganoxie spa owner Lindsey Schubert
Name: Lindsey Schubert
Born: Dec. 3, 1986, in Merriam.
Family: Husband, Fletcher; son, Bingham, 6 months old; Sadie, family’s German shepherd; parents, Vicki and the late Ron Starcher; and Leslie Dohrn.
Occupation: Licensed esthetician, professional makeup artist and beauty blogger. She also is owner of Blush Spa in Tonganoxie.
Dream job as a child: Hollywood actress.
Interesting fact: Through her job, Schubert has done makeup for 15 different Miss USA and Miss Teen USA contestants and recently did makeup for Jade Roper from ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” TV show.
Digging Deeper: Schubert graduated from Tonganoxie in 2005.and went on pursue general studies in college.
“After a few years of taking classes, I decided to turn a different direction and enrolled in esthetics school,” she said.
After graduation, Schubert paired with her mother’s hair salon in Tonganoxie and opened up her own facial room adjoined with the salon.
Schubert met her husband through a mutual friend in the summer of 2012. The couple married in May 2014 and welcomed their son in August 2015.
The family now lives in Mission, where Schubert’s husband works as an emergency room nurse for Kansas University Hospital. He’s also pursuing an acute care nurse practitioner degree.
Schubert travels several days each week to Tonganoxie for work at the spa.
“We plan to raise our children in Tongie and very much appreciate small-town values,” Schubert said. “I’ve always admired the life my parents had as business owners in Tonganoxie.
“It’s a great responsibility, but it also teaches many invaluable lessons as both a parent and entrepreneur. You learn to juggle many hats and it becomes a great way to know the people in your community while providing a great service to them.”
Schubert said her parents taught her how far hard and honest can take a person. She said she models her own business plan after their success daily.
