Tongie Tidal Waves outlast Bonner Springs at home dual

Tonganoxie got back in the win column with the Tongie Tidal Waves’ dual meet this past Friday at Tonganoxie Water Park.

Tonganoxie defeated Bonner Springs, 260-144, in the meet.

The Tidal Waves have one more home meet this season, as it will start at 7:30 a.m. this Friday and go until noon or 1 p.m. at Tonganoxie Water Park. The public is invited to root on the local swimmers.

Taking first place at the swim meet this past Friday were several Tidal Waves swimmers.

Axton Kramer won gold in the freestyle and the backstroke in the 6 and younger boys division, while Marissa Dick did the same in backstroke and Sydney Kirchoff in freestyle on the girls side.

For 8 and younger boys, Hunter Nihart, Jack Lough, Joshua Duvall and Mark Geiger took first in the freestyle relay and Andrew Normal won gold in the backstroke.

In 8 and younger competition for the girls, the medley relay of Kennedy Kramer, Hadley Regehr, Bailey Igleheart and Addy Oberndorfer placed first., as did Baylie Igleheart in freestyle, butterfly and individual medley. Maddie Pruitt took first in the backstroke.

For 10 and younger, Isaiah Holthaus, Ethan Tripe, Gavin Shupe and Garrett Edwards placed first in the boys medley relay. Gavin Shupe, meanwhile, won the breaststroke.

Lilly Pruitt took first in that age division in the breaststroke, as did Kenedy Unruh in the backstroke.

The 12 and younger boys had a host of first-place finishes. The freestyle relay team of Max Plaschka, Alex Lungu, Cody Kesinger and Aiden Tripe won gold, as did the medley relay team of Alex Lungu, Dalton Regehr, Cody Kesinger and Aiden Tripe. In the girls division, Mikayla Myers-Arenth placed first in the individual medley.

For 14 and younger boys, the freestyle relay of Jack Duvall, Griffin Overacker, Brendan Rogers and Kyle Chambers won first, as did the medley relay team of Brendan Rogers, Scotty Vick, Kyle Chambes and Griffin Overacker. Kyle Chambers won first place in freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and individual medley. On the girls side, the freestyle Relay of Elizabeth Funk, Arianna Myers-Arenth, Harlei Hendrix and Kirstin Stemmons took gold, as did the medley relay team of Harlei Hendrix, Jordyn Bosley, Elizabeth Funk and Arianna Myers-Arenth. Jordyn Bosley won the butterfly and Elizabeth Funk won the freestyle, backstroke and individual medley.

Finally, in the 18 and younger results in the mixed division, the freestyle relay tea of Braxton Shupe, Mikayla Myers-Arenth, Rilee Garner and Alex Falk won gold, as did the medley relay team of Kirstin Stemmons, Rilee Garner, Alex Falk and Rylan Hellman.

For the 18 and younger boys races, Garrett Eason took first in the breaststroke and Luke Falk won the freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. On the girls side, Rilee Garner won the freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and individual medley, while Samantha Koch won the backstroke.
