Tonganoxie superintendent interviews set for next week

By Shawn Linenberger - | May 10, 2016

Tonganoxie USD 464 will go through its process of selecting a new superintendent next week, but also is expected to decide on a teacher contract.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Tonganoxie Middle School to select candidates to interview.

Meetings then will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, May 19 and possibly May 20 to conduct interviews.

May 23 will be the special meeting to select a new superintendent.

The board also voted, 5-2, at Monday’s meeting to table a decision on not renewing a teacher contract. The district did not specify the teacher, but the board met in executive session for 50 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel. Board Member Kaija Baldock requested that Tonganoxie Education Association co-presidents John Tollefson and Mike McClellan be included in the closed-door meetings.

Kris Grinter and Michelle McGhee voted against tabling the issue until Monday’s meeting.

Meetings next week will be at TMS, but meetings will return to Tonganoxie Elementary School after next week.
