Tonganoxie baseball regional postponed due to weather

By Shawn Linenberger - | May 16, 2016

Monday’s Tonganoxie High Class 4A Division I regional play-in game at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds has been postponed.

The updated schedule has Bishop Miege and Tonganoxie now playing at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of that game plays Sumner at 4 p.m. and then Piper and Basehor-Linwood are to play at 6 p.m.

The championship game now is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday.

If the rain persists Tuesday, those schedules will be moved to Wednesday and then possibly Thursday. Piper and Sumner have their graduation ceremonies on Thursday, so if either or both teams advance to the championship.

If the field still is unplayable, the original schedule will be used, with the Tonganoxie-Miege game set for 3 p.m. Thursday and the semifinals and championship games played on Friday.

All games will be played at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

Softball

Tonganoxie also is host for a 4A D-I softball regional, which is set to start Tuesday. Check back to our site for any changes to that schedule due to weather. Games currently are set for Atchison playing Tonganoxie at 3 p.m. and Eudora vs. De Soto at 4:30 p.m. Winners will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

Soccer

The THS soccer team (5-10-1) plays on the road against Bishop Miege at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dixon Doll Stadium.

Golf

Tonganoxie golfers are playing Monday in their 4A regional. The competition started at 8 a.m. Monday at Dub’s Dread Golf Course in Kansas City, Kan.
