Santa planning visit Saturday to Linwood

Santa Claus visits the area with a stop from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Linwood Library.

He will ride in on a firetruck at noon and be ready to visit with children right after.

Mrs. Claus will also be on hand. The event will also include some craft activities and cookies to munch on.

Library hosting ugly sweater cookie event

It’s a Sweet Treat Day Bakery from Tonganoxie will come Dec. 8 to the Linwood Library for an ugly sweater cookie program and contest.

The program begins at 6:30 pm, and pre-registration is suggested due to space limitations. The bakery will supply participants with sweater-shaped cookies to decorate as well as give decorating pointers. Participants will then decorate their cookies for a contest in which winners will receive a gift card. Program is only open to adults or mature teenagers. Linwood Lions doing pecan sales

The Linwood Lions are doing their annual pecan sales. Bags of plain pecans or chocolate- covered pecans are available for purchase for $10 per bag. Interested buyers can find the nuts at the Linwood Library.

Early developmental screening coming up

There will be a free early developmental screening from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at the Linwood Elementary School. The screening is for children ages birth to 5 years old who reside in the Basehor-Linwood or Tonganoxie school districts. To schedule an appointment, call 913-724-2348.
