As about 30 people attended a ribbon cutting on a crisp and chilly fall morning this past Thursday at the new Tonganoxie Police Department, Mayor Jason Ward joked about the weather and said it was fitting because police Chief Jeff Brandau thought it would be “a cold day in hell before he had a new police station.”
Spooktacular Scavenger Hunt starts Friday; Spooktacular set for Oct. 28

Spooktacular scavenger hunt will get started Friday. Youths can get started on the Spooktacular Scavenger Hunt by gathering clues Friday in downtown Tonganoxie. The hunt will run through Oct. 27 and prizes will be given out, such as mini Gambinos pizzas, a $100 gift card and 15 $10 bills.
Ballot question debate moves along slowly; sign ordinance tabled; public hearing set

The Tonganoxie City Council continues to determine what a ballot question might resemble as it looks to put the 3/4-cent sales tax extension to a public vote. A downsized council met Monday for its regular meeting, with Mayor Jason Ward and Council Members Chris Donnelly and Jim Truesdell absent.

The Tonganoxie High boys cross country team narrowly missed out on winning the league title, but the Chieftains did have the top individual runner.
