Tonganoxie High soccer gets through hectic week unscathed

Tonganoxie High looked ready to put the cherry atop a big week of soccer Friday at the Chieftain Park Sports Complex. THS had gone 3-0 so far and was playing its fourth match in five days. It led Maranatha Academy, 2-0, in the second half, but a penalty kick and another goal from the Eagles provided the equalizer with 3:04 left in regulation.

Tonganoxie High was down, 7-0, to Shawnee Mission Northwest in the final match of pool play Saturday at its home meet when a Cougar service error put THS on the board. moments later, THS cut the lead to five at 8-3. “Come on, we gotta stay on a roll,” THS coach Tiffany Parker pleaded to her team from the bench. “Let’s go.” The team did just that at its home invitational.

Local woman with Tonganoxie ties killed in fatality wreck on U.S. 24-40

A head-on fatality accident Monday night claimed the life of a local woman with Tonganoxie ties. The accident occurred about 5:20 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 24-40 about 0.2 of a mile south of 243rd Street and 5 miles south of Tonganoxie.
