The Lawrence Memorial Hospital board of trustees met for its monthly meeting Wednesday and discussed, among other items, the progress of construction and renovations projects in the LMH system.

Genesis Christian Academy students celebrated math and satisfied some sweet teeth all in one day. GCA students participated in Pi Day on March 14 by making the Pi mathematical symbol. The entire school came together to create the symbol in the school gymnasium.

Seventeen college students from across the country and seven of their managers from College Pro Painters can be seen this week transforming the exterior of four Tonganoxie homes with a fresh coat of paint. Brothers Ryan Bowen and Aaron Bowen, are planning a springtime move for their Gambino’s pizza restaurant from Stone Creek to the former Mo’s Pizza. The Bowens also own Gambino’s in McLouth and Eudora.

Rosie Oelschlaeger had lunch with Gary and Linda Blanton on March 7 at Jerry’s Again in Atchison. Rosie Oelshlaeger and Marilyn Oxley visited Rosie’s brother, Eugene Sawyer and Terri Morris of Holton on March 8. Two of Tammy Mooberry’s friends took her with them to Mardi Gras earlier this month.
Tonganoxie soccer opens with scoreless draw

The Tonganoxie High girls soccer team opened the 2017 season with a scoreless tie against Louisburg this past Thursday. The Chieftains will have to wait nearly two weeks to pursue the first victory of the season. THS competes this coming Tuesday with a road match in Shawnee against Maranatha Christian Academy.
Tonganoxie City Council revokes interlocal agreement following AG opinion; work session, liquor license approved; brush dump site discussed

Tonganoxie plans to continue with improvements at its undeveloped business park, but it will have a new partner in an intelocal agreement. The city had approved an interlocal agreement with the Leavenworth County Port Authority for development of the business park. The county also has pledged $5 million to the park.
