Tonganoxie High soccer wins again, defeats Maranatha in overtime thriller for regional title

Surviving and advancing in the soccer postseason pushes the blood pressure with an oh-so-close goal and trims the nails with a nervous bit. Tonganoxie had one of those matches against who else — Maranatha Christian Academy — Thursday in a Class 4-1A regional at Chieftain Park. MCA pushed the Chieftains earlier this season in Shawnee. THS finally won, 4-3, in overtime that night. It would be another overtime night in Tonganoxie. The game finished with 2:12 left in overtime when Bowan Jones’ kick from 23 yards out sailed into the net. THS won the regional title, 3-2.
Pop-up craft mall next week at Tonganoxie Community Historic Site

A pop-up craft mall that includes an early bird sale soon will be coming to the Tonganoxie Community Historic Site.

Tonganoxie Ace Hardware grand opening ceremony Wednesday at Brothers Market

Ace Hardware will have a grand opening ceremony at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2. The new business is situated in the northwest corner of Brothers Market grocery store in Tonganoxie. Tonganoxie Business Association will be coordinating the grand opening.
Tonganoxie High After Prom fundraiser tonight at Sonic

The Tonganoxie High School junior class will be serving food Friday at Sonic to raise money for THS After Prom 2018. Students will be serving from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Tonganoxie Sonic. During that time, 100 percent of tips and 10 percent of total food sales will go to After Prom.
McLouth High freshman runner qualifies for state with 4th-place finish at regional

Baylee Wolfe and Ceara Funk will represent McLouth at state cross country. Though the McLouth girls team won’t compete for a team title, Wolfe and Funk qualified as individuals. Wolfe, a freshman, placed fourth (21 minutes, 40.27 seconds) and Funk, a senior finished 18th (23:19.44).
Genesis Christian Academy, Tonganoxie Recreation Commission receive Lawrence Memorial Hospital grants

Genesis Christian Academy and the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission together have been awarded health and wellness grants from the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association. Funds were raised for the grant through the Summer Spray 5K this past summer.
