Tonganoxie soccer opens season with 2-2 draw against Kansas City Christian

Tonganoxie High used two second-half goals from Desi Wagner to erase a 2-0 deficit before eventually settling for a tie Friday against Kanssa City Christian in Olathe. THS (0-0-1) started its season with a draw at Olathe District Athletic Complex. Saves from goalie Wyatt Martin helped keep the Panthers from getting the victory. Tonganoxie won’t be back in action until Sept. 4 when THS has its home opener against Atchison.
Motorcyclist dies from injuries sustained in crash with Tonganoxie Police vehicle

A motorcyclist died Friday night following an accident involving a Tonganoxie Police officer. The accident happened just before 6 p.m. near U.S. Highway 24-40 and Village Street in Tonganoxie. Tonganoxie police officer Nicholas Ontiveros, 33, Lansing, was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer west on U.S. 24-40 when he activated his emergency lights and made a U-turn in attempt to stop a vehicle traveling east on the highway, according to Kansas Highway Patrol reports.
Weapon found in Tonganoxie Middle School locker deemed ‘unfortunate accident’

A weapon was found early Thursday evening in a Tonganoxie Middle School locker, but authorities determined it was an unfortunate accident and no malice or threat was intended. Tonganoxie Assistant Superintendent Tonya Phillips explained in a press release that Tonganoxie Police were called to investigate the incident.
