Three Tonganoxie High band members made school history when they were selected to the Kansas Music Educators Association 1A-4A All-State Band. Senior Ryan Wolfe and juniors Rex Hancock and Ryan Brammer became the first ever THS students to eve make the prestigious band.

Tonganoxie routed Heritage Christian Academy, 55-19, Jan. 23, but fell short Friday against Tonganoxie Invitational champ Eudora, 51-37. The THS girls defeated Heritage Christian, 47-35, but then lost to Eudora, 50-22. Both teams are 3-9 and played Turner on Tuesday after The Mirror’s deadline and Piper on Friday, both nights in Tonganoxie.

Tonganoxie High had a big weekend at the 17th annual Baldwin Invitational Tournament. The Chieftains ranked No. 4 in Class 4A, placed second out of 16 teams, scoring 161 points on the day. Holton won the tournament with 190.

Citations were up by more than 200 issuances in 2017 from 2016 for the Tonganoxie Police Department. Despite those numbers, some areas were down, such as DUIs (36 in 2016 to 23 in 2017) and arrest reports (257 in 2016 to 244 in 2017).
