Basehor Beat: Basehor students win spelling bee

Basehor-Linwood students ready for Leavenworth County Spelling Bee later this week

Basehor-Linwood students recently won the schoolwide spelling bee at various grade levels.

At Basehor-Linwood Middle School, Rylee Jones was the winner and Zach Palmgren alternate for eighth grade, while Kyle Turner won seventh grade, with Averill Hollond the alternate. Prisha Patel and Alyiah Shirley were the winner and alternate, respectively, at the sixth-grade level.

Tessa Turner, Kyle Turner’s sister, won the bee at the Basehor Intermediate School level, with Elijah Jenkins the alternate.

Phillip McInerney won at Glenwood Ridge Elementary School, with Sara Powers the alternate.

And at Linwood Elementary School, Mostyn Hollond won in fifth grade, while Alanzo Cavaness was alternate.

The Leavenworth County Spelling Bee is 1 p.m. Friday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 55, 300 S. 20th St., Leavenworth.
