Tonganoxie USD 464 board to meet later this month to hash out budget

Board members will discuss a proposed budget with new Superintendent Loren Feldkamp at a special meeting later this month. The board scheduled the special session for 6 p.m. July 30 at the Tonganoxie Elementary School library. The meeting is open to the public. Board members will decide whether to approve the proposed budget. A budget hearing will take place next month before the board gives final approval of the budget for 2018-19.
Leavenworth couple faces charges after allegedly fleeing officers

Charges have been filed in Leavenworth County District Court against two Leavenworth residents alleged to have shot at and fled law enforcement officials last week. Anthony Robertson, 33, and Shauntel Cornelius, 29, had their first court appearance Monday at the Leavenworth County Justice Center.

Two Tonganoxie farms are gaining more notoriety near and far. Grinter Farms, known globally for their sunflower fields, have been named the No. 2 best sunflower field in the country. Country Living magazine, in a July 2 story, named the farm to its list. Next to Nature Farms, meanwhile recently was featured in 435 Magazine, which is a Kansas City publication.
