Tonganoxie Business Association recognizes merchants and more at annual banquet

Several Tonganoxie businesses and first responders were recognized during Tonganoxie Business Association’s annual banquet May 15 at West Haven Baptist Church. Downtown Drugstore was named Small Business of the Year, while Mid-Star Lab/Capitol Orthopedics was named Large Business of the Year.
Tonganoxie officials unveil 2019 proposed budget

Assistant City Manager Dan Porter laid out the remaining timeline for the proposed 2019 budget, which at this point would hold the line compared to last year’s mill rate. Porter presented the proposed budget at Monday’s City Council meeting in Council Chambers. Another presentation and opportunity for public input will take place at the next regular council meeting, which is June 18.
Tonganoxie communty sends off police chief at retirement reception

Tonganoxie Business Association members gave Jeff Brandau some good-natured ribbing Friday during the organization’s weekly breakfast meeting at Brothers Market. Members reminded the retiring police chief that it also was National Doughnut Day and that it was fitting that was his last day on the job.
Tonganoxie Days, library run, VFW car show coming Saturday

One of Tonganoxie’s bigger Saturdays is almost here. Tonganoxie Days will be Saturday, which means the Gallagher Park and the surrounding area will be bustling with music entertainment, children’s inflatables, food vendors and adult beverages.
