The new to DVD release “Mortal Engines” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Friday as part of a teen movie night. Youth 12 and older can enjoy drinks, snacks and a movie.
Tonganoxie FFA Week involves field trips, outreach

The Tonganoxie FFA Chapter celebrated FFA Week with various activities in February. On Feb. 18, students toured the Kansas State University campus in Olathe. Students listened to guest speakers and toured labs and other facilities.
Pet Health Day is April 27 in Tonganoxie

Tonganoxie Business Association is offering Pet Health Day 2-5 p.m. April 27 at the Tonganoxie City Fire Department. The event is open to all Leavenworth County residents. The city’s pet license fee will be waived for pets. Dogs and cats will be micro chipped and vaccinated at a discounted fee.
McLouth to have Patriots Day Parade on April 13

The McLouth Patriots Day Parade will start at 1 p.m. April 13 in downtown McLouth. Registration and line-up begins at noon at the Stan Braksick Sports Complex at the northwest corner of town. The parade will leave from the north gate of the sports complex and go out to Kansas Highway 92 by Free State Electric, then parade south past the reviewing stand downtown.
Caregiver support group being offered each month in Tonganoxie

Legend Healthcare and Heartland Hospice Care is offering a caregiver support group the fourth Tuesday of each month in Tonganoxie. The next meeting will be 6 p.m. March 26 at Legend Healthcare, 1010 East St. The complimentary support group is for caregivers and family members of loved ones who are suffering from a disease of which there is no cure. Meetings are designed to help caregivers with strategies to help in learning about the disease and stress-relief techniques. The White Birch Agency, Realty Executives of Kansas City, also is sponsoring the support group. For more information, call Amanda Starcher at 913-369-8705.
Miles for Marilyn 5K and fun run/walk is April 6

The third annual Miles for Marilyn School 2 School Memorial 5K race is coming next month to Tonganoxie. This year’s run will be 9 a.m. April 6 at THS. This is part of Tonganoxie High School’s cross country program in honor of Marilyn Weller to provide a scholarship opportunity to seniors at THS. Weller graduated from the University of Kansas and worked as a physical therapist in the Leavenworth County schools for 32 years. She lived a full and meaningful life, inspiring those around her with devotion to family, friends, church, and the community.
Tonganoxie Business Association Appreciation Dinner coming in early April

The Tonganoxie Business Association Member Appreciation Dinner is next month. The event will be 6-8 p.m. April 2 at Deer Ridge Estates, 21107 Donahoo Road. There is no cost for the event, which will recognize local businesses, police and fire departments.
Leavenworth man pleads guilty in battery case

A 37-year-old Leavenworth man pled guilty to one count aggravated battery Monday in Leavenworth County District Court. Stephen Wayne Cox awaits sentencing, which will be 3:30 p.m. May 17.
