Local schools celebrating commencement exercises

The calendar has turned to May, so high school graduations soon will be here. McLouth will have its graduation at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McLouth High School Gold Gymnasium. Basehor-Linwood will have its commencement exercises at 7 p.m. May 16 at the high school. It then will be time for Tonganoxie to bid farewell to the Class of 2019 the next day. Baccalaureate will be 10 a.m. May 18, while graduation is slated for 2 p.m. May 18 at the Tonganoxie High School gymnasium.
Basehor Craft Show accepting prospective vendors

Artists and crafters who wish to be considered for a booth at the 36th annual Basehor Craft Show can submit their contact information to Basehor Craft Show, P.O. Box 125, Basehor 66007, or to basehorcraftshow@gmail.com. This year’s show is Nov. 2. Application forms and information about the show will be mailed to those on the contact list June 4. Those selected for the juried show will be informed in mid-July. The Craft Show is sponsored by the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization of women educators promoting education, altruism and world understanding. Show proceeds help support local scholarships and other altruistic projects.
Tonganoxie police participating in Click It or Ticket

The Tonganoxie Police Department will have increased traffic patrol within the city limits from May 20-June 2. TPD joins 180 other law enforcement agencies in aggressively enforcing Kansas occupant restraint laws as part of the 2019 Kansas Click It or Ticket campaign. The activity is supported through a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
School physicals to be offered May 20 at Tonganoxie High

Tonganoxie middle and high school students can get their sports physicals later this month. LMH Health will be offering the physiclals 6-7 p.m. May 20 at the Tonganoxie High School gymnasium. Cost is $25 for each physical, which requires no appointment. Half of the money taken for the physicals will be donated to the atehletic training sports medicine budget for the Tonganoxie school district.
