Monday night football couldn’t have been much better than it was this week. The Chiefs got mile high relief, and that wasn’t until the last minute. Considering the fact that it was 1982 since they defeated the Broncos there, it’s indeed something different. Also, lots of fun even as a fan. It took 16 months, countless government delays, and the lowering of the water line caused by the flood of 1993, but Leavenworth Aviation Services, Inc. is reopened for business. Started in 1990 by Wally Winstead, the airport, located on Sherman Army Airfield, Ft. Leavenworth, was enjoying a great deal of success until Mother Nature got involved.
McLouth Happenings: Haunted hayrides next 2 Saturdays; Veterans to be honored at MES

Enjoy the ride of your life on the Threshers Lair Haunted Hayride this month at the McLouth Threshing Bee Grounds. Spooky rides will be offered 7:45-11 p.m. Saturday and 7:45-11 p.m. Oct. 26. Cost: $10 per person for adults and youths 7 and older; $5 for children ages 6 and younger.
Linwood News: Creepy stories; Halloween art for youths; Halloween storytime

Lawrence storyteller Priscilla Howe will be here later this week for a night of spine-tingling tales for adults and teens. Not for the faint of heart, Howe will tell her favorite creepy stories! The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Linwood Community Library. Any children attending should be at least middle school age or older.
Tonganoxie Public Library offering costume exchange

Patrons can donate gently used, clean constumes for a costume exchange this month. The exchange will be available during library hours. Residents also can pick out one of the costumes as part of the exchange. The library has been closed due to a water damage issue, but the library re-opened Tuesday.
Tonganoxie High to have Veterans Day event again this year

Tonganoxie USD 464 officials are working with veteran organizations to have a ceremony similar to last year’s inaugural Veterans Day celebration at Tonganoxie High School. This year’s ceremony will start at 1 p.m. Nov. 8, the Friday before Veterans Day (Nov. 11) and will take place in the THS east gymnasium instead of the performing arts center. Veterans will be invited at noon for additional festivities and a meal at the Chieftain Room.
Leavenworth men who fled during traffic stop taken into custody

One man was taken into Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office custody this past week while another turned himself in the next day after the men fled a traffic stop a few miles north of Tonganoxie.
Tonganoxie High soccer upends Maur Hill for 3rd straight victory

The Tonganoxie High boys soccer team has put together another winning streak. Tonganoxie now won its third straight match Monday with a 3-1 victory at home against Maur Hill-Mount Academy. The teams were scoreless in the first half. Tonganoxie scored first in the second half on a Daniel Zest goal. Maur Hill answered with the equalizer, but Tonganxoie was able to pull ahead and defeat the visiting Junior Ravens, thanks to goals from Javier Trujillo and Aaron Bitler.
