Applications for open Tonganoxie City Council seat due Dec. 3

Tonganoxie residents interested in being considered to fill a City Council seat have until early December to apply. City staff will be taking applications until 10 a.m. Dec. 3. The Council then will review the applications at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Dec. 7.
Tonganoxie High boys soccer falls to eventual state champion in quarterfinals

Tonganoxie High got a late goal in its Class 4-3-2-1A state quarterfinal match, but it wasn’t enough to get the Chieftains a spot at state a few days later. THS lost, 3-1, Nov. 3 to Bishop Miege at Beatty Field. The loss ended a big season for Tonganoxie, which went 11-5 and won a regional championship.
Tonganoxie High football now top-ranked team in 4A

Based on new rankings, Friday’s playoff game between Tonganoxie and Bishop Miege will be a battle of the top two teams in Class 4A. It’s hard to argue against that opinion, as earlier this week announced that Tonganoxie is the new No. 1 team in 4A and Bishop Miege No. 2.

And here it is. Tonganoxie High will play in the Class 4A state sectionals for the second year in a row after dropping former Kaw Valley League foe Lansing this past Friday. The game was tight in the first half, but THS capitalized on Lansing miscues in the second half and turned a 14-10 lead into 28-10.
