Tonganoxie High baseball rocks Jeff West in 1st games of season

The sun was out and the bats were hot Friday for the Tonganoxie High baseball game in the Chieftains’ first competition in nearly two years. THS won Game 1, 10-0, in five innings and then followed that showing with a 9-2 victory in Game 2.
Return to the field ‘feels good’ for Tonganoxie High softball

Tonganoxie High softball resembled a team eager to get on the field Monday after an unprecedented hiatus. THS hadn’t played a softball game in nearly two years and originally was supposed to play Turner on Thursday in Tonganoxie. But wet field conditions delayed that return to the diamond a bit longer. On Monday, the Chieftains were ready to go. Tonganoxie scored runs in every inning and breezed to a mercy rule-shortened 17-2 victory in four innings.
Vaccination clinic for all phases available Thursday in Leavenworth

Leavenworth County Health Department will have a vaccination clinic for all Kansas vaccination phases on Thursday. Anyone 18 or older who hasn’t received a vaccination can visit the clinic from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 Esplanade in Leavenworth. Leavenworth County will be administering the Moderna vaccine, which is only approved for people 18 and older.

The frontpage headline was “Groundbreaking held for highway expansion project.” Those pictured in the photo included Anna Mary Landauer (former Basehor mayor) and State Senator Alan Ramirez. Ramirez said, “For the 14 years that I’ve been in the legislature, we’ve fought for this project.” Larry Meadows presided at the ceremony.
