An exciting shot at the end of regulation this past week pushed the Tonganoxie High girls basketball team into overtime against Jeff West, the comeback Chieftains just couldn’t extend the magic into the extra period at Meriden.
Tonganoxie High boys team ready to get back on court after hiatus

A combination of quarantines and inclement weather have put the brakes on the Tonganoxie High boys basketball season. Tonganoxie defeated Shawnee Heights, 61-53, on Feb. 2 in Topeka. The victory pushed THS to 9-3 overall and extended Tonganoxie’s winning streak to five games. THS still has that winning streak, but the boys team hasn’t played a game since that non conference rematch with the T-Birds.
Late-night heroics: Tonganoxie High boys wrestling wins regional meet after midnight Saturday at Jeff West

Wrestling postseason tournaments are one-day events this year with the COVID-19 pandemic for Kansas high schools, but Friday’s Class 4A boys regional at Jeff West technically was a two-day affair. The tourney started Friday afternoon in Meriden, but wrestling continued into the early morning.
Colvert, Lux advance to substate with regional gold for Tonganoxie High girls

The Tonganoxie High girls wrestling team placed third at a Division II regional tournament Saturday at Rossville and will be sending two members on to substate later this week. THS finished third with 61 points. Baldwin won the meet with 165 points, while Silver Lake placed third with 84.
Bitter temps cause closures early in week

The prolonged bitter temperatures in recent days forced Tonganoxie USD 464 to cancel classes for a fourth consecutive school day as the city of Tonganoxie also postponed a meeting due to the inclement weather.
