To the teacher, Jennifer, and the high school students that came to work mowing, cleaning up the weeds, trimming, putting up a new flagpole holder, carrying the trash bags to the curbside and doing anything we had for them to do on the community work day for the high school students and the teachers: We so greatly appreciate their work.

My feeling is that the City Council is making an attempt to control costs and expenditures — current and future. Good for them. The fall elections were a shot across the bow by demanding elected officials reign in the out-of-control spending that’s been going on for years.

I am opposed to the election of district judges. I don’t know of any reason to change the system. I remember when we used to elect them. It takes too much money and too much time campaigning, instead of judging.

To the editor: The statewide ban on smoking in public places makes me very angry because it’s my health, not anyone else’s. I am a courtesy smoker and I abide by the laws. However, I’m fed up with everyone blaming health problems on smoking. Guess what? We are all going to die someday from something.
