Letter: Kansas not following federal model for judicial selection

I recently received a letter asking me to oppose the election of judges. What does a mailer like this cost? Who has that kind of money and why would they want to preserve the status quo?

I am opposed to the election of district judges. I don’t know of any reason to change the system. I remember when we used to elect them. It takes too much money and too much time campaigning, instead of judging.

To the editor: The statewide ban on smoking in public places makes me very angry because it’s my health, not anyone else’s. I am a courtesy smoker and I abide by the laws. However, I’m fed up with everyone blaming health problems on smoking. Guess what? We are all going to die someday from something.
