Walter Jay Lewis 1927 - 2008 Tonganoxie

Funeral services were held Feb. 12 for Walter Jay Lewis, 80, Tonganoxie, at the Myers Family Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Lewis died Feb. 7, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1927, the son of Edward E. Lewis and Opal S. Lewis of Kansas City, Kan. Walt attended Turner High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired after 30 years of service from Armco Steel as an electrician in 1983 and was a past Commander of the DAV Chapter No. 1 of K.C.K. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward E. Lewis, Wichita, Wayane B. Lewis of Albuquerque, N.M. and Robert A. Lewis, Kansas City, Kan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley J. Lewis of Tonganoxie; three children, Robert J. Lewis, Basehor, Paula Zubeck, Leawood, and Mark Lewis, Bonner Springs; and eight grandchildren.
