Ann Kathleen Thomas 1926 - 2008 Tonganoxie

Services for Ann Kathleen Thomas, 81, of Tonganoxie, were Saturday, Feb. 23, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, while in the company of family members at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
She was born April 14, 1926, in New Franklin, Mo., the daughter of Henry and Viola Watts. She has lived in the Kansas City, Kan., area since the early 1950s.
Mrs. Thomas enjoyed working with flowers and had owned and operated Peppy's Floral in downtown Kansas City, Kan., in the early 1970s. She later worked in clerical and accounting positions and for several neighborhood dry cleaners. She enjoyed being active with her children and was a Cub Scout den mother and a Blue Bird leader, and was an honorary lifetime member of the P.T.A. Her hobbies included camping where she and her husband had been past presidents of the National Campers and Hikers Association of the Trailmasters Chapter. Other interests included flowers, dancing and music. She was a member of the National Pickers and Fiddlers Association's Wyandotte County chapter.
Her husband, William R. Thomas, died in 2003. Her daughter, Gail L. Thomas, died in 1952; a grandson, Shannon W. Richards, died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Harper, Tonganoxie; two sons, Wayne L. Richards and Travis L. Thomas, both of Kansas City, Kan.; a stepson, Jimmy Thomas of Florida; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ann K. Thomas Senior Activity Fund, sent in care of Travis Thomas or Denise Harper.
Arrangements were handled through Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs.
